Can't wait till the 5th and last book comes out this summer. This book was really good, in fact the whole series is outstanding. I hope they make it into a movie or a series - it will be really popular.
This is the best series, as it goes along, its gets better, it is a shame Karen Marie Moning is only writing 5 in this series, they are the most interesting, and exciting fiction i have read in some time.
It is going to be a long wait for book 5, Shadowfever. There were things I absolutely loved about this series. They weren't OMG YOU HAVE TO READ THIS good for me, but I read them quickly and really enjoyed them. They are stubborn and pigheaded and I just want to hit both of them upside the head.*sigh* How much longer until Shadowfever. EVER. Faefever and Dreamfever are OMG YOU HAVE TO READ THIS good. There are also things that made me frown and things that disappointed me. But book 4 warms me up to him and I can see all the soft goey nugget inside.
still an jerk. I know I would happily volunteer to poke around with him and try to find more of it.Barrons and Mac together. A small warning, both do end with cliffhangers. Because of that I am going to be vague and hope you trust me that you absolutely must read this series if you haven't.Darkfever and Bloodfever were good. The same can not be said for book 3 and 4. Dreamfever probably being one of the worst I have read.
Most importantly, this series grabs you by the shirt and drags you in, makes you care about the characters and what is going on in their world.I love Mac, I especially love Mac version 4.0. they make me swear like a sailor. The plan was to review all 4 books by themselves, but each book is so closely linked to each other, I think its impossible to do without spoiling things. They are full of surprises, storyline, and action. Her character arc and the growth in her is captivating.Barrons.
What a great movie or TV show it would be. How am I going to be able to wait that long. I love the Karen Marie Moning Fever series. I'm on the last book of the series and I hear the next one doesn't come out until August 2010.
Her only "hope" is to find a magical book that only she can use to stop the invasion except that (get this) she can't touch it. Finally, this book was sold to me as a Romance, and there is not one single shred of Romance in this book. The book ends in another cliff hanger, but there is no reason to believe that the author will do anything other than wimp out of that one, too. The author spends WAY too much time in summary monologs. Unfortunately, her ability to build a plot stinks. The closest thing we have is some extremely lackluster scenes where the leading lady orgasms when kissing a man, which are written so dryly as to be boring.
In the mean time, there are no plot developments, no climax, just a meandering series of events hither and yon where nothing much happens at great length. Yawn. The leading lady can see them, and has one of the two hand-to-hand weapons in existence that can harm them, but.she is vastly overwhelmed by the enemy's rapid rate of invasion. The book begins after a cliff hanger that is "resolved" in a manner that is mind numbingly weak -- the enemy leaves for absolutely no reason at all, and the leading lady just stands there and does nothing.
The format would force her to have some sort of climax and ending, which would shore up her writing flaws. Buyer beware. All told, Moning could be a decent author but just DOESN'T have what it takes to write a serial. Just kidding, no cliff hanger here. Humans can't see them or harm them.
She spends much of the story pointlessly chasing after the book anyway, in a very half-hearted way.The author did a great job of bringing 1st time readers up to speed, and she crafts a good scene. Excuse me. And on top of that, the universe is set up so that that everything is completely hopeless, and this makes for a very boring read. If she has a stand alone book out there, this might be worth reading.
"Faefever" takes place in an alternate modern day, where imortal & invulnterable evil fairy are ariving from another world and attacking ours. The leading lady spends the entire book unsure who is her friend and who is her enemy, never learning anything new worth beans that will help her decide. Nasty fairy does something evil again and cannot be stopped.
